At this point we may be talking about different Ants, I am not talking about the small, hard working, itch provoking insect ants, no definitely not. The ANTS I am referring to are Automatic Negative Thoughts.
This is something that affects me massively and in conjunction with my Imposter Syndrome can leave me with crippling self doubt and almost incapable of working. Tasks that I know I am more than capable of completing seem impossible. Continue reading
We all have fantasies and dreams, daydreams or overnight dreams. But are they always just fantasy or sometimes does our subconscious allow us to see what could be?
If your dreams are of being famous, winning the lottery or some such then this may not be the case. But what if your dreams are of Continue reading
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I remember being asked that a lot when I was younger, I remember having to choose subjects to study for my GCSEs, thinking about my future as I approached leaving school and entering the world of work. Continue reading
How often do we ever give any thought to our reach and impact?
As a person, friend, family member or colleague?
For me I am usually too busy being me, helping out, guiding, coaching, mentoring and just doing what I can to really spare too much brainpower on wondering how wide is my reach and what is my impact.
Recently two things happened which changed that. Continue reading
Now you may have stumbled across this post and be thinking, wow, this is what I have been looking for. Someone is going to tell me how I use social media well and get lots of interaction.
Well I am going to start off by disappointing you. I am really asking the question not giving an answer. The reason for this being that social media is a mystery to me really. Continue reading
We all have several personas, whether we think about it or not. At times we bring different ones to work, and leave others behind.
My theory is that I have at least six different personas which I will explain later. Of these six I believe that there are four of them that I can bring to a work environment with me. When I say I can, I believe we choose which version of us we bring to work, or sometimes we bring the one we think we need to in order to ‘survive’ or ‘get by’. Continue reading
There is the road well travelled, a pair of comfy shoes, our spot on the sofa, a favourite jumper. Our comfort zones, so well named. What good happens in them?

But what happens when we push ourselves out of our comfort zone?
When we take a chance and do something that challenges us? Continue reading
There has been something niggling away at the back of my brain for a while now. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. Until this week. Something happened which finally freed the thought and brought realisation.
It was something that I used to take for granted, but which seems to have disappeared. My role models are no longer at a senior level, some are but not many. Continue reading
I’m starting this blog by doing the thing you aren’t supposed to do – going off topic. Slightly.
If you speak to people who know me professionally, they will tell you I am confident, opinionated, passionate, tenacious and fight my corner to achieve and be the best I can (I hope). That’s my work persona, Professional Pete. Continue reading
Success is a strange concept, we all seek it, we all have a unique definition of it. Most of us know and want to learn and emulate traits of successful people.
People like Steve Jobs, Ed Catmull, Richard Branson and David M Kelley fascinate me, as does their success. They are/were all highly motivated people, they set goals and achieve, no matter how unlikely success may seem. Their self belief is high, but is not based upon arrogance, rather on vision and upon a track record of achievement.
So what does success mean to me? Continue reading
